"They [the media] are news-as-entertainment professionals – packaging glossy corporate content for maximum distribution and big bucks. The goal is not objective reportage. Their targets are quantifiable and highlighted in a business plan somewhere. Success is based on a simple formula: stay within parameters "understandable" to a wide audience that devours sound bites and familiar storylines on the hour, every hour.

Like trained seals whose every desire, instinct and buying pattern has been measured by corporate media's marketing department for the consumption of its advertisers, the audience demands satisfaction – and western media delivers it." -- Sharmine Narwani

In this article, we'll uncover the fascinating evolution of the old toaster, uncovering the magic behind these beloved culinary companions.

The primary technical problem in the development of the toaster in the late 20th century was the development of a heating element that would be capable of repeatedly heating to red-hot temperatures without breaking or becoming too brittle.

The first standalone electric toaster, the Eclipse, was made in 1893 by Crompton & Company of Chelmsford, Essex. With its bare wires the bread is baked one side at a time.

The heating element problem was solved in 1905 by a young engineer named Albert Marsh, who designed an alloy of nickel and chromium, known as nichrome.

The first US patent application for an electric toaster was filed by George Schneider of the American Electrical Heater Company of Detroit in collaboration with Marsh.

One of the first applications the Hoskins Company considered for its chromel wire was for use in toasters, but the company eventually abandoned such efforts to concentrate solely on wire making.

These structures, colloquially known as mobile homes, offer a picturesque glimpse of a bygone era, when flexibility, craftsmanship and the open road beckoned to an adventure-seeking generation.

The concept of mobile life was not entirely new during this era. However, it gained significant momentum only at the beginning of the 20th century.

A confluence of factors such as improved transportation systems, economic opportunity, and the desire for a more transient lifestyle led to the rise of wooden homes on wheels.

Today, hardly a day goes by when there is no controversy or public debate over whether various films or other programs have crossed the limits of what is acceptable to portray on film. Debates like these consume huge amounts of the public's collective consciousness, and sometimes it feels like we do it all. However, it's easy to forget that such debates are as old as film itself.

Many films over the past decades have been controversial for their portrayal of various things. The use of excessive violence, sexual content and questionable language in films has been the focus of public debate around their appropriateness in being shown and whether they offend society through being shown. This list is a trip back in time and an examination of some of the movies of yesterday that fit that description.

of clandestine photography. Although it was not a classic spy camera, it displayed a great blend of artistry and technology.

This watch was made by J. of Birmingham. It was designed by Lancaster & Son and manufactured between 1886 and 1900.

Production spanned a variety of models, starting with a version designed for men before introducing a more petite version designed for women.

These photos show the female version of the Lancaster Watch Camera, a rare and small model.

This unique piece sold for a remarkable $36,000 at a Bonhams auction in 2007. Only four of these are known to exist, not because they were challenging to build, but because they proved quite difficult to use effectively.

A new Biden administration rule that seeks to withhold lunch money funds from public schools that refuse to accept or comply with new far-left mandates regarding sexuality and gender is likely to outrage parents anew.

As reported by The Center Square, failure to comply with the White House’s leftist school agenda could result in the loss of federal tax funds administered through the Department of Agriculture.

The controversy began after the USDA announced in May 2022 that “it would change its longstanding interpretation of Title IX, the law broadly governing discrimination protections in education,” the outlet reported. “USDA said it would expand its previous prohibition against discriminating based on sex ‘to include discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity.'”

Funding for school lunches goes through the USDA’s Food and Nutrition Service.

An American warship and multiple commercial ships came under attack Sunday in the Red Sea, the Pentagon said. Yemen’s Houthi rebels later claimed attacks on two ships they described as being linked to Israel, but did not acknowledge targeting a U.S. Navy vessel.

The attack potentially marked a major escalation in a series of maritime attacks in the Mideast linked to the Israel-Hamas war.

“We’re aware of reports regarding attacks on the USS Carney and commercial vessels in the Red Sea and will provide information as it becomes available,” the Pentagon told The Associated Press.

The Carney is an Arleigh Burke-class destroyer. It remained unclear what damage, if any, the vessels sustained in the attacks.

Following the United Nations vote recognizing the state of Palestine, Netanyahu's tantrum over the Iran P5+1 deal, followed by more pressure that Israel admit to their nuclear weapons, not to mention Netanyahu's attempt to blame the Palestinians for the Holocaust, I predict that Hollywood, ever eager to remind us all of how Israel and the Jews have suffered and deserve our unquestioning support as they shower white-hot flaming death onto the Palestinian children and steal more of their land, would immediately green-light a whole new batch of movies about Hitler, the Nazis, and so forth.

So I started to wonder, after decades of Hollywood obsession with events that happened before I was even born (and I am seventy), they gotta be scraping the bottom of the barrel for movies about Nazis.

So far they've had.....
