A U.S. government report released Monday estimates that there could have been more than $60 billion in unemployment insurance fraud during the pandemic.
The report by the U.S. Government Accountability Office says that figure is an estimate spread over the entire unemployment system and should be “interpreted with caution.”
There has been $4.3 billion of unemployment fraud proven by state workforce agencies and at least $45 billion more in transactions that were flagged as potential fraudulent unemployment claims but not confirmed.
The U.S. Department of Labor stated that about $878 billion in total unemployment benefits were paid from April 2020 through September 2022, the report stated. There was $209 billion in expenditures under the regular unemployment insurance and about $669 billion payouts under the various pandemic unemployment programs, which ended September 6, 2021.
White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre delivered remarks to the media yesterday that suggested House Republicans, barely two weeks into serving as the majority, will be responsible for higher gas prices in the near future.
Jean-Pierre’s comments reeked of desperation to pivot media coverage away from President Biden’s ongoing classified document scandal. And they were utterly laughable on their face.
“As many of you are tracking, this week, House Republicans will vote to raise gas prices on American families,” she opened her joint press briefing with Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm.
“The contrast in priorities could not be more stark,” Jean-Pierre added. “The President spent the last two years, as you know, doing everything he could to lower gas prices for American families, and prices are down about $1.60 a gallon since last summer.”
“Now, House Republicans are using their narrow majority to force the American people to pay higher gas prices, just as big oil companies are amassing record profits.”
Concerns and controversy are swirling around the decision by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to alter an electrocardiogram test limit for pilots.
A researcher for an aviation advocacy group, US Freedom Flyers (USFF), stumbled upon the EKG change in December, several weeks after the FAA enacted it.
Because the revision was made without a published explanation, USFF turned to a nationally known cardiologist and other experts to assess its importance.
They say the FAA’s change involving “the PR interval” is significant. The PR interval represents the time it takes for an electrical impulse to travel from one part of the heart to another. It is an indicator of heart health.
A shockingly large wave of layoffs has already begun, and we are being warned that much larger layoffs are coming in the months ahead. That is very chilling to hear, because job cut announcements are already coming in so rapidly that I couldn’t possibly share them all with you. I wrote about some of the major layoffs that are happening just a few days ago, and now I have more to share. We haven’t seen anything like this since 2008, and many of you still have very painful memories of what the “Great Recession” was like. Unfortunately, America is now plunging into another severe economic downturn, and that means that there will be a tremendous amount of pain in the weeks and months to come.
A statute allowing food producers to incorporate cricket powder into flour-based products will go into effect on Tuesday in the European Union.
The decision follows a review launched three years ago by the European Food Safety Authority regarding the use of partially defatted house cricket powder; the agency found that mass market consumption of the material is “safe under the proposed conditions” of use levels.
Cricket powder will now be permitted in a number of food products, such as multigrain bread, crackers, cereal bars, biscuits, beer-like beverages, chocolates, sauces, whey powder, soups, and other items “intended for the general population,” according to the new regulation. Cricket One, a company that asserts that the insects are “nutritionally more efficient” and serve as a more reliable “source of alternative protein” than livestock, submitted the original application.
The regulation also referenced “limited published evidence on food allergy related to insects in general” and connected Acheta domesticus, the species of house cricket in question, to several “anaphylaxis events.” The European Food Safety Authority concluded that “consumption of this novel food may trigger sensitisation” to the insect’s proteins and recommended further study.
Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) said during an exhaustive interview with the New York Times that she believes there are “other great candidates” outside of President Joe Biden who could challenge and defeat former President Donald Trump in 2024.
When asked about President Biden, Pelosi spoke highly of him, asserting that he has “done a great job” in office. However, she said it will ultimately be up to him to choose to run again in 2024, which could very well pit him against Trump yet again.
“Is age a positive thing for him? No,” the 82-year-old congresswoman said of 80-year-old Biden, adding that age is “a relative thing.” She also said she believes first lady Jill Biden is “ready” for her husband to run again.
However, surveys show a major lack of enthusiasm for a Biden 2024 bid, particularly among his base. In a recent survey from The Economist/YouGov, 51 percent across the board states that Biden should not seek office again. Perhaps what is worse for the president is the fact that less than half, 46 percent, of Democrats want him to run again, and only 44 percent of those who voted for him in 2020 want him to throw his hat in the ring in 2024.
Webmaster addition: Yep! The Democrats are throwing Joe Biden under the bus!
North Dakota residents had better watch more than their P’s and Q’s. They should watch their language as well in state-funded institutions.
If passed, a state senate bill would fine people $1,500 each time they use pronouns referring to themselves that don’t match the gender they were assigned at birth. The bill could be enforced anywhere that receives state funding, including state agencies and public schools.
The Doomsday Clock was first created by the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists in 1947 to warn humanity of the dangers of nuclear weapons.
Scientists are set to reveal the newest time on the Doomsday Clock tomorrow, which represents their precision as to how close humanity is to an Armageddon scenario. The Doomsday Clock was first created by the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists back in 1947 to warn humanity of the dangers of nuclear weapons. Still used today, experts from the Science and Security Board of the Chicago-based group of experts in the fields of nuclear risk, climate change, disruptive technologies and bioterrorism, make yearly assessments of humanity’s fate. They do so by moving the hands of the Doomsday Clock either closer to, or further away from midnight.
As whales were washing up dead on the northeastern coast of the U.S., a conservation group quietly sounded the alarm to Senate Democrats that the development of offshore wind farms might need to “cease” to protect an endangered species of whales from “extinction,” according to a letter exclusively obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation.
The Army is on track to meet its beefed up recruitment targets for fiscal year 2023, a result of service leaders increasing focus on recruiting and adapting to a more challenging target pool, experts told the Daily Caller News Foundation.
University job postings are increasingly focusing on race as academic institutions look to center racial issues in their teaching of American history and attempt to bolster diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) programs, experts told the Daily Caller News Foundation.
Did Hunter Biden receive classified information from Joe Biden on Ukraine and then email the information to his business partner Devon Archer?
Joe Biden stored top-secret files with the “sensitive compartmented information” (SCIF) designation at Penn Biden Center in DC (found on Nov. 2).
Lawyers discovered more classified documents at Joe Biden’s Delaware home – in the garage next to his Corvette (found on Dec. 20).
Additional documents stored in Biden’s library were discovered on January 12 and again on January 20.
Hunter Biden had access to the garage where Biden stored some of the classified documents.

The documents discovered at Biden’s private office and home are related to Ukraine, Iran, China and the United Kingdom.
According to emails uncovered from the “Laptop from Hell,” Hunter Biden sent his business partner Devon Archer a very detailed email on Ukraine on April 13, 2014 – just one week before Joe Biden visited Ukraine to meet with then-Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk.
It appears Hunter Biden was emailing Devon Archer information he received from a briefing from his father Joe Biden or directly from top-secret documents.
One of the top medical practitioners and medical scientists of our time confirms under oath in the one hour deposition here — https://odysee.com/@Video_di_KasperCarlo:d/COVID-CRIMES-Dr.-Richard-M.Fleming-MD-sworn-testimony-that-C-(sub-ita-COMPLETO):a — that Covid is a bioweapon developed with US government money in contravention of the Bioweapons Convention, Nuremberg Laws, US Constitution and as such is an act of treason. Richard Fleming, M.D., J.D., Ph.D. (physics), also testifies that the mRNA “vaccine” is useless. It does not prevent Covid or its spread. To the contrary, the “vaccine” aids the spread of Covid by disrupting the body’s immune system. The evidence is clear that the “vaccine” has caused more death and health injury than the made-in-the-laboratory Covid virus itself.
From early in the orchestrated “pandemic,” I reported the skepticism and warnings of leading medical practitioners and scientists. These expert warnings were censored. Everything the independent practitioners and scientists said has turned out to be true. Nothing Fauci, CDC, FDA, WHO, Biden, Big Pharma, and the media said is true.
The Dutch government plans to close the Groningen gas field this year despite Europe’s precarious supply position. Groningen is the largest gas field in Europe.
The field is dangerous, a government official from the Hague told the Financial Times, and the government has no plans to boost production from it.
“We won’t open up more because of the safety issues,” Hans Vijbrief told the FT.
“It is politically totally unviable. But apart from that, I’m not going to do it because it means that you increase the chances of earthquakes, which I don’t want to be responsible for.”
Production from Groningen has been curtailed substantially, and there were plans in place to phase out production altogether because of increased seismic activity in the vicinity of the field even before the energy crisis began in 2021.
As gas prices began to climb in the autumn of 2021 and then took off in the spring of 2022, some began speculating that the Netherlands could keep the field operating to contribute to filling the gap in gas supply left by Russian pipeline deliveries.
The Dutch government was skeptical about that from the start and instead suggested production be extended, although at a minimum rate of some 2.8 billion cu m. Now, this, too, is being reconsidered.
“It’s very, very simple: everybody who has some knowledge of earthquake danger tells me that it’s really very dangerous to keep on producing there. I’m quite convinced it’s wise to close it down,” Vijbrief told the FT.
A group of 43 Democrats want to completely eliminate the debt ceiling, which they say Republicans have 'weaponized' - which would give the government a blank check to borrow without any limit from Congress.
The End the Threat of Default Act, introduced by Rep Bill Foster (D-IL) and co-sponsored by 42 House Democrats, comes after the federal government hit the $31,381 trillion debt ceiling last week. According to Democrats, instead of attempting to responsibly spend taxpayer dollars through negotiation, it's time to just eliminate all limits on federal borrowing.
"Weaponizing the debt ceiling and using it as a pawn in partisan budget negotiations is dangerous and repeatedly brings our nation to the brink of default, which would be disastrous to the U.S. economy – something we’ve witnessed as recently as 2011 when Republicans created a debt ceiling crisis that resulted in the first ever downgrade to the U.S. credit rating," said Foster.
"The government has an obligation to pay its bills," he added. "Threatening to default on our debt is the same as ordering an expensive meal at a restaurant, eating it, and skipping out without paying. We can and should have a real conversation about overall spending, but the full faith and credit of the United States must never be compromised."
