In 2020: a beautiful, agriculturally self-sufficient island nation full of tea and tourists and holder of the highest “Environmental, Social, and Governance” (ESG) investor rating in the world.
And then, as part of the larger “green” effort spurred on by international Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), woke capital, and, seemingly, a desire to sit at the big table at the various and sundry global initiative conferences, President Gotabaya Rajapaksa banned the use of manufactured fertilizer in order to create a more climate-friendly sustainable farming sector. In April, 2021, the country went all-organic overnight.
What could possibly go wrong?
prices for food (especially rice) and fuel and other daily basics skyrocketed, the tea crop – and the hundreds of millions it earns in international trade – was decimated. The nation defaulted on its foreign debt, had rolling power blackouts, the tourists are staying away in droves, and Sri Lanka, already wracked by corruption and COVID, spiraled out of control.
The public’s response? Even though the fertilizer ban had already been partially rolled back, just last month Rajapaksa’s presidential palace was stormed by thousands of everyday Sri Lankans and he had to flee the country – last word was that he was holed up in Singapore.
The curtain is coming down on the brutal 11-year old Syrian conflict, which former US President and Nobel Laureate Barack Obama initiated, as the Arab Spring swept through West Asia two decades ago. The United States has suffered yet another big setback in West Asia as the year 2022 draws to a close. The unfolding Turkish-Syrian reconciliation process under Russian mediation is to be seen as a saga of betrayal and vengeance.
Ankara came under immense pressure from the Obama Administration in 2011 to spearhead the regime change project in Syria. Obama blithely assumed that Turkiye would gleefully serve as the charioteer of “moderate” Islamism for the transformation in West Asia. But Ankara took its time to calibrate its foreign policies to adapt to the Arab Spring before responding to the shifting landscape in Syria.
Erdogan was caught unprepared by the uprising in Syria at a juncture when Ankara was pursuing a “zero-problems” policy with Turkiye’s neighbours. Ankara was unsure how the Arab Spring would play out and remained silent when the revolt first appeared in Tunisia. Even on Egypt, Erdogan made an emotional call for Hosni Mubarak’s departure only when he sensed, correctly so, that Obama was decoupling from America’s staunch ally in Cairo.
Syria was the ultimate test case and a real challenge for Erdogan. Ankara had invested heavily in the improvement of relations with Syria within the framework of the so-called Adana Agreement in 1998 in the downstream of Turkish military’s massive showdown with Damascus over the latter harbouring the PKK [Kurdish] leader Ocalan. Erdogan initially did not want Bashar al-Assad to lose power, and advised him to reform. The families of Erdogan and Assad used to holiday together.
In Ashrafieh, the wealthy Christian neighborhood in east Beirut, there is a group of 300 young, muscular, and bearded men patrolling the streets from 6 pm. to 6 am. as part of Neighborhood Watch, but they have an extremist Christian ideology which many have termed neo-fascist. They call the group the Soldiers of God, and its members refer to themselves as the Guardian Angels.
According to an investigation carried out by Lebanese army intelligence, the Soldiers of God participated in the October 2021 massacre of 7 people, and the injury of 32 others who were Hezbollah and Amal supporters in Tayouneh, a neighborhood in Beirut. The report specified the names of the Soldiers of God members who participated and their connection to the Societe Generale Bank Group (SGBL). The report also stated the person in charge of coordinating the massacre was Lebanese Forces (LF) leader Samir Geagea’s head of security, Simon Musallam.
While many want to concur with Professor Emily Oster‘s request for pandemic amnesty, those that are aware of what has been happening in our country since 2020 refuse to give up on those that may be in a slumber to the work that is ahead to expose The purveyors of propaganda and misinformation. 2020 will be a year that will live in infamy. A year that a medical condition was so hyper-politicized that it forced the country to take political sides as it pertains to a medical condition. Who could’ve seen that one coming?
In 2020 we were inundated with daily death counts on CNN and Fox News. Still, even though the death count has continued to rise after the introduction of the COVID-19 vaccine, for some reason, the CNN and Fox News Covid death ticker has stopped notifying the American public that more have died since the vaccine was introduced. Why is the American public silent on matters like this? The experts appointed by the Trump administration have become commonplace names to American citizens, but will we ever know all that went on behind closed doors that have been kept from the public?
Everyone seems to want to blame Donald Trump for everything that’s happened in this pandemic, but didn’t he hire the presumed ‘best and brightest’ to bring us, as American citizens, the most expert advice he believed was available? Donald Trump got Covid, took recommended early treatment protocols, and even got the risky remdesivir antiviral treatment, and was still able to run the country from Walter Reed Memorial Hospital back in 2020, but two years later, his predecessor Joe Biden who wears masks all the time, and had been vaccinated four times, and, still got Covid, and only took the FDA drug Paxlovid, and got rebound Covid. Yet, the American public is left in the dark about the truth surrounding the failed vaccines, and the failed FDA approved drug causing rebound Covid.
The Swiss government has turned down the idea of adding a “third gender” or “no gender” as an option on official government forms in the country.
The Daily Wire reported that Switzerland decided that it would not join up with the gender identity ideology that has swept many others parts of the planet.
The country has decided that it will only allow people to choose whether they are male or female and that there is no in-between. The Associated Press reported on the court ruling in Switzerland, saying:
“The binary gender model is still strongly anchored in Swiss society,” the Swiss Federal Council said in response to two proposals from parliament.
The traditional London New Year fireworks display last night was dedicated to a dead queen and neo-Nazis on the endangered list in Ukraine.
Let’s call it what it is—a perverse acclamation for a dead monarch and genocidal maniacs in Ukraine.
No word how much this gaudy tribute of support for mass murder and war crimes will cost the average Briton. The state is focused on spending stacks of money on bombs and bullets to be sent to psychopaths in Ukraine. It is far less concerned with the welfare of its own citizens.
“Poverty is deeply rooted in the UK, with a decade of cuts meaning millions of families across the country are struggling through financial hardship,” reports Big Issue. “Many more are being pushed below the breadline as the cost of living crisis hits low-income households the hardest.”
Over 14 and a half million people—more than one in five—live in poverty in the UK, including 4.3 million children, according to the Joseph Rowntree Foundation.
The cost of living crisis will worsen poverty rates, with more than one million people set to be plunged into poverty this winter. Many will struggle to afford the basics to live and rely on food banks, and the newly established warm banks, to survive as temperatures plummet.
General Michael Flynn is taking a radically different perspective on the Russia/Ukraine war than the controlled corporate media and the corrupted political class of the West.
Flynn, who was President Trump’s national security adviser before becoming the victim of a deep state conspiracy, appeared on Steve Bannon’s “War Room” podcast where he described why he believes Russia is winning the war against Ukraine.
“Russia has achieved all of their objectives, and they’ve always called them limited objectives, and they’ve achieved them, and they’re now exposing…biological labs that have been in there for a long long time, and sadly they’re all sponsored or supported by the United States of America,” he said.
“One of the things we have got to come to grips with is that this situation in the Ukraine is not going to end well. It is not in our favor right now,” Flynn added.
Twitter CEO Elon Musk is calling for an investigation into billionaire George Soros for controlling information.
George Soros has been a topic of discussion recently, as various liberal organizations have written a letter urging major American corporations such as Coca-Cola, Disney, and Kraft Foods to boycott Twitter.
Interestingly, some of these same groups are financially supported by Soros himself. In light of this, Elon Musk tweeted about the need for a thorough investigation into these organizations.
Bacon represents Omaha in Congress and has a 65% lifetime rating from Heritage Action. The moderate Republican explained in an op-ed for the Daily Caller why he would work with Democrats if the five Republicans who have opposed McCarthy continue to refuse to budge.
Public-health experts are sounding the alarm about a new Omicron variant dubbed XBB that is rapidly spreading across the Northeast U.S. Some studies suggest it is as different from the original Covid strain from Wuhan as the 2003 SARS virus. Should Americans be worried?
It isn’t clear that XBB is any more lethal than other variants, but its mutations enable it to evade antibodies from prior infection and vaccines as well as existing monoclonal antibody treatments. Growing evidence also suggests that repeated vaccinations may make people more susceptible to XBB and could be fueling the virus’s rapid evolution.

One of the world’s foremost Egyptologists says that recent hieroglyphics discoveries in King Tut’s tomb give further credence to a theory he put forth more than seven years ago: that Queen Nefertiti’s body is inside a hidden chamber next to that of her stepson, King Tutankhamun.
Nicholas Reeves, an Egyptologist and former curator at the British Museum, realized that cartouches—carved oval or oblong tablets that enclose a group of Egyptian hieroglyphs—showing Tutankhamun being buried by Ay, his successor, had been painted over other cartouches that showed Tutankhamen burying Nefertiti, according to the Guardian.
“I can now show that, under the cartouches of Ay, are cartouches of Tutankhamun himself, proving that that scene originally showed Tutankhamun burying his predecessor, Nefertiti. You would not have had that decoration in the tomb of Tutankhamun,” he told the Guardian.
Almost half of US adults believe side effects from the COVID-19 vaccines may have caused “unexplained” deaths, according to a Rasmussen poll released Monday.
The survey polled 1,000 American adults via telephone or online over the period of Dec. 28 to Dec. 30, with a margin of error of +/- 3%.
Nearly half of Americans, 48%, said there are genuine reasons to be concerned about vaccine efficacy, while 37% said people who are concerned are spreading conspiracy theories.
More than a quarter (28%) of Americans polled said they personally knew someone whose death may have been caused by side effects from the COVID-19 vaccine, with 61% saying they did not know anyone and 10% saying they weren’t sure if they did.
A solid majority of the population is vaccinated against COVID-19. According to the poll, 71% said they have received the vaccine, while 26% said they have not. The majority of unvaccinated Americans, 77%, expressed concerns about vaccine safety, while 38% of those who received the shot said unexplained vaccine deaths were somewhat likely.
The lack of specialized Covid-19 treatments for people with weak immune systems has left millions of Americans with limited options if they get sick as the pandemic heads into an uncertain winter.
Once heralded as game-changers for Covid patients considered at risk for getting seriously ill — one was used to treat then-President Donald Trump in 2020 — monoclonal antibodies are now largely ineffective against current Covid variants. Easier-to-administer antiviral drugs, such as Paxlovid, have largely taken their place but aren’t safe for all immune-compromised people because they interact with many other drugs.
One of the major American propaganda initiatives pretends to measure and judge nations, a stage performance in which Americans, with the invaluable assistance of the Jewish-owned media, hog the only microphone while exercising their presumed right to set the norms of evaluation of the inherent moral validity of other nations and forms of government, and even of national cultures themselves. But most of the standards applied in these exercises of ‘Feeling good to be an American’ are vacuous, measures undefined and largely undefinable, virtually all unmeasurable, and mostly utopian nonsense. We are constantly patronised with foolish claims of ‘freedom’, of ‘democratic values’, ‘rule of law’, the ‘rules-based international order’, or things like being ‘a genuinely free and open society’. The phrases, while appealing, are so general as to be meaningless.
Moral superiority doesn’t come from mouthing platitudes or pretending to utopian values, but from actions. It’s what you are, not what you say you are. I don’t much care what you claim to stand for or to believe in; I’m interested in your actions, which is where the proof resides. These juvenile PR performances consist mostly of Americans wasting everyone’s time in claiming foolish mythical ideals and providing long lists of things they ‘believe’ but never practice, their religious convictions proof of nothing except mass hysteria, especially the parts about democratic values. Americans believe they are ‘good’, but in what way are they, as individuals or as a nation, better or morally superior to a Canadian, a German, a Chinese or a Brazilian? The simple truth, obvious to everyone but Americans themselves, is that they are not superior, and there is compelling evidence they are worse.
Many of you have seen the picture of Jordan Peterson shaking hands with Binyamin Netanyahu over dinner in Jerusalem with Ben Shapiro beaming in the background. Many of you know that E. Michael Jones has extensive contacts in the intelligence community in the United States. What many of you might not know is that he also has contacts in both the Mossad and Shin Beth, whose agents have turned against Netanyahu after he turned fellow Israelis into Pfizer lab rats.
My name is “Moishe,” and I am a disgruntled Shin Beth agent who converted to Catholicism after reading E. Michael Jones’s magnum opus The Jewish Revolutionary Spirit. Rather than make my conversion public, I decided to become a mole who could provide the public with transcripts of important conversations like the one which took place between Shapiro, Peterson and Netanyahu in late 2022. I am here to testify to the truth of this transcript, which we now reproduce for the first time in full below. To those who doubt its authenticity, all I can say is that it is every bit as true as holocaust narratives like Elie Wiesel’s memoir Night or Mischa de Fonesca’s incredible story of traveling 900 miles across Europe in a pack of wolves to rescue her parents from Auschwitz. For those who doubt, no explanation is possible. For those who believe, no explanation is necessary.
Millions of people are under a tornado watch in the Upper Midwest and Plains after a massive fatal storm flooded California.
Areas in of Arkansas, Louisiana, Texas have received their first tornado warning of 2023 that is in effect until 3am CST on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the warning has also extended to parts of Mississippi and Tennessee until 4am CST.
Jessieville in Arkansas was hit by a tornado late Sunday afternoon leaving 14 homes, three buildings and up to seven buildings at a local school district damaged. It is unclear if any injuries occurred.
Hundreds of thousands of students across the US will be forced to wear face masks in class when schools go back this week as controversial mandates make a return.
Despite Covid infection rates plateauing for months, elementary and high schools in New Jersey, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania have made face coverings a condition of entry for students returning from the holidays.
Education officials claim the policy is to prevent a boom in respiratory illnesses after increased mixing during the first normal Christmas and New Year in years.
I know, I often am blamed for my condescending attitude towards humanities and especially History, the way it is being written and taught in the Anglo-Saxon world. We all can recall Sir Anthony Beavor who, far from being real military historian, paraded himself as the man who has issues grasping force structure and basic math. And he is just one such "historian' who produced meme in Russia about gazillion "raped" German women. Examples of such "history" and "historians" abound everywhere and in Russia too, be that Solzhenitsified caricature on 1930s-50s to Fomenko's famous "new chronology". History is no less about juxtaposition of the facts than it is about deliberate and highly responsible research. I was among many who applauded Kremlin's decision to close Russian archives to Western "historians" most of who basically "research" there for anti-Russian narratives, not for history.
But then there is another issue--by the year 2023 history as a scientific field ran, no smashed, full speed into the brick wall of technological and natural complexity of the world. And here is the piece in TAC, which I visit periodically, in which Sumantra Mairta makes a case for The End of (Academic) History.
The Second World War can serve as a lesson to us. It did not appear in a serene sky. It was not a battle of the Good guys against the Bad guys. It was just triggered by an unforeseen gathering of forces capable of destroying everything.
After the economic crisis of 1929, the whole world was convinced, and rightly so, that the capitalism of that time was over. The Soviet Union alone offered an alternative, Bolshevism. Soon the United States came up with a second alternative, the structural reforms of the New Deal, and then Italy promoted a third alternative, fascism. The great Anglo-Saxon capitalists chose to support a new regime, close to fascism, Nazism. They thought that Germany would attack the USSR, thus preserving their interests threatened by both Bolshevik collectivisations and US economic reforms. However, nothing worked out as planned, since Italy, Germany and Japan formed the Axis with their own logic and the war was not started against the Soviets, but against the great fortunes that prepared it.
In the collective imagination, we do not hold responsible the great Anglo-Saxon capitalists who supported Nazism at its beginning. On the contrary, we remember the British and American people as having participated in the victory.
From this experience we must learn that the most skilful plans can escape their promoters. Peace was threatened by the alliance of three very different regimes, Fascism, Nazism and Hakkō ichiu. None of the international relations scholars and other geopoliticians of the time foresaw this union. All of them, without exception, were wrong.
President Volodymyr Zelensky has signed a new bill into law which strengthens government control over public access to news in Ukraine. Zelensky has already nationalized the country’s media under martial law powers invoked after Russia’s invasion last year, stoking criticism from press freedom groups.
Signed on December 29, the law expands the Ukrainian broadcast regulator’s powers over news agencies ”dramatically,” now including both print and online sources, according to the Kyiv Independent. The measure requires publications to obtain licenses to operate, and any media org without the proper paperwork can be shut down, the outlet reported, adding that the body handing out the permits will be under Zelensky’s control.
According to Ukraine’s Institute of Mass Information, under the law, the media regulator is likely to be controlled by the incumbent authorities because its members are appointed by Zelensky and the Ukrainian parliament, where his party has an absolute majority.
Confronted with the greatest opportunity for global peace in nearly a century, George H. W. Bush did not hesitate: Upon the advice of his retainers, he immediately elected the path of war in the Persian Gulf.
This endeavor was hatched by Henry Kissinger’s economically illiterate protégés at the National Security Council and Bush’s Texas oilman secretary of state, James Baker. They falsely claimed that the will-o’-the-wisp of "oil security" was at stake, and that 500,000 American troops needed to be planted in the sands of Arabia.
That was a catastrophic error, and not only because the presence of "crusader" boots on the purportedly sacred soil of Arabia offended the CIA-recruited and trained mujahedin of Afghanistan, who had become unemployed when the Soviet Union collapsed.
The CNN-glorified war games in the Gulf during early 1991 also further empowered another group of unemployed crusaders. Namely, the neocon national-security fanatics who had misled Ronald Reagan into a massive military buildup to thwart what they claimed to be an ascendant Soviet Union bent on nuclear-war-winning capabilities and global conquest.
The United States is not discussing joint nuclear exercises with South Korea, President Joe Biden said on Monday, contradicting remarks by his South Korean counterpart as tensions flare with North Korea.
South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol had said that Seoul and Washington are discussing possible joint exercises using U.S. nuclear assets, while North Korean leader Kim Jong Un branded the South its 'undoubted enemy.'
'No,' Biden said when asked by reporters at the White House if he was currently discussing joint nuclear exercises with South Korea.
Before liberals knew him as the butt of a Hamilton joke, John Adams once said: “Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passions, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence.”
But as the Great Airline Meltdown of 2022 illustrated last week, today’s media now routinely does that altering — by promoting or suppressing facts based on which party and which infantilized audience they serve. That is a problem not just for air travelers, but also for our entire democracy.
To review: As up to one million travelers were stranded by Southwest Airlines over the holiday season, The Leveruncovered documents (here, here, here and here) showing that Democratic state officials and congressional lawmakers had repeatedly begged Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg to toughen rules to deter airlines from mistreating their customers.
As those documents and our new video detail, Buttigieg — the sole airline regulator under federal law — has plenty of power at his disposal. But he’s refused to use that authority, even after Southwest had experienced a similar meltdown a year ago. As William McGee of the American Economic Liberties Project put it: “Southwest was inevitable after [Buttigieg] failed to punish awful behavior all year.”
In reality, Budapest says out loud what Germany thinks, argues Polish MEP Ryszard Czarnecki...
However significant Viktor Orbán and Hungary may be, it is Germany whose voice is decisive inside the EU.
The fact that it is Orbán’s conciliatory statements on Russia that are highlighted rather than similar and even more far-reaching statements from Chancellor Scholz, French President Macron, Bulgarian President Radev, or Croatian President Milanovic, is enlightening.
Hungary, just as it has often been very critical of Brussels verbally but very pragmatic inside the European Council, has also verbally demonstrated its differences with Brussels regarding Russia while in the end always agreeing to sanctions imposed on that country.
In fact, Belgium was the last country to raise the veto, but since it is not governed by the right, no one complains.
Hungary has used every debate on sanctions to fight for its own interests, which has often weakened sanctions. However, very similar exceptions have been secured by Italy, which can, for instance, continue to export clothes and shoes to Russia, something Italy secured before Giorgia Meloni came to power flanked by Matteo Salvini and Silvio Berlusconi.
Chinese officials have admitted that the country's total number of Covid-related deaths is 'huge', with one doctor saying as many as 70 percent of Shanghai's 25 million residents may have been infected.
The steep rise in infections came after Beijing's hardline 'zero-Covid' approach was abruptly ended last month, quickly overwhelming hospitals and crematoriums.
In a rare admission, health officials said on TV that the country was seeing an increase 'in the critical cases or the fatalities'. However, in an attempt to play down the situation, they claimed that the surge was in line with other countries.
According to the book “Peril” written by Bob Woodward, General Mark Milley, the Joint Chiefs chairman, told China in a secret phone call that he would give advance warning if the US was ever going to attack.
