The Israeli military has landed six flights in Britain since it began its criminal bombing of Gaza in early October, it can be revealed.

The real number is likely to be higher, but the Ministry of Defence (MoD) refused to give any details about Israeli military flights in the UK.

The International Court of Justice (ICJ) recently said it was “plausible” Israel is committing genocide in Gaza. The latest information about Israeli military assets using Britain during its campaign may implicate UK ministers in crimes against humanity.

Declassified has discovered through flight records that Israeli Air Force (IAF) jets have taken off and arrived at four different airports in Britain.

The first Israeli flight we discovered departed from Glasgow Prestwick airport, southwest Scotland, on 18 November, although its arrival does not appear to have been registered.

US Rep. Mast, a Former IDF Soldier, Says Palestinian Babies Killed in Gaza Are Not ‘Innocent Civilians’

Mast made the comments when confronted by activists from Code Pink

Members of the antiwar activist group Code Pink confronted Rep. Brian Mast (R-FL), a former member of the Israeli Defense Forces, about the Palestinian babies being killed by Israel in Gaza. Mast told them the babies were not innocent.

Medea Benjamin, co-founder of Code Pink, asked Mast, “You haven’t seen the pictures of all the babies being killed?”

Mast replied, “These are not innocent Palestinian civilians across the world.”

Mast previously invoked World War II to justify Israel’s slaughter in Gaza, which has killed over 27,000 Palestinians

Claire's Observations:  Representative Mast, there is a word I strongly suggest you might want to look up and research; that word, sir, is "hubris", which the Greeks defined as the basis for many of their classical tragedies which have survived to present day.

Delegates at an Israeli conference calling for the re-settlement of Israelis in Gaza were handed a board game that seemingly allowed players to map out where they would establish homes in the enclave after it was conquered.

The game, titled, "Come Build Your House in Gaza!" shows a layout of Gaza separated into different neighbourhoods with Hebrew names and explanations of the meaning behind each of them.

It was seen at the Victory Of Israel conference, an event hosted in Jerusalem on Sunday by right-wing Israeli politicians, campaigners and religious figures calling for the building of Israeli settlements in Gaza after the end of the war.

The conference was attended by 11 cabinet ministers and 15 coalition members of parliament.

The British government this week imposed sanctions on Iranian officials on the false claim that they were using drug cartels to carry out terrorist activities.

Iran summoned the British ambassador to Tehran to protest against the “baseless accusations” and “illegal” sanctions by London and informed him of the Islamic Republic’s “strong” indignation.

“This is a bitter historical irony that a country that is the founder and supporter of organized terrorist groups, drug trafficking, and criminal gangs wants to make accusations against the Islamic Republic of Iran and its loyal and honest forces, who are at the forefront of fighting organised crimes,” the director general of Western Europe at the Iranian foreign ministry, Majid Nili Ahmadabadi, told British Ambassador Simon Shercliff.

The accusation against Iran flies in the face of the UK’s dim record on fighting drug gangs, while the country also supports terrorism and allows its soil to be used as a safe haven for terrorist groups.

Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza is turning into a public relations disaster for the US.

Israel has been openly and increasingly defying its main sponsor and ally despite the Biden administration’s fulsome support for Israel’s massive assault on the tiny coastal territory it occupies, and despite the administration repeatedly circumventing its own legislature to deliver munitions to Israel.

In December, the US said it wanted Israel to wind down its Gaza operation by mid-January.

It hasn’t happened.

Twice in January, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu openly contradicted the US administration over a two-state solution.

The second time, he did so despite US President Joe Biden’s valiant effort to interpret Netanyahu’s first “no” into a “yes.”

The US has said it opposes any buffer zone in Gaza.

It has been ignored.

Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin on Thursday admitted the US does not know if Iran was operationally involved in the drone attack in Jordan that killed three American soldiers. On the same day, US officials told CBS News that plans have been approved for strikes against Iranian personnel and facilities in Iraq and Syria.

When asked by a reporter how much Iran knew about the Jordan drone attack or if it was operationally involved, Austin said, “You know, we believe that this was done by an element of what is known as the Axis of Resistance, and these are Iranian proxy groups. And how much Iran knew or didn’t know, we — we don’t know, but it really doesn’t matter because Iran sponsors these groups.”

Austin said that if the Shia militias the US believes were responsible for the attack were not supported by Iran, these “kinds of things don’t happen.”

A Belgian official posted photos showing the building housing its aid agency’s offices in Gaza was destroyed by an Israeli air strike on the besieged Palestinian enclave. The building was targeted as Belgium is refusing to cut off assistance to the Palestinian UN aid agency.

Minister of Development Cooperation and Major Cities Policy Caroline Gennez posted photos of the building before and after it was destroyed on X. “The office building of Enabel, the Belgian Agency for Development Cooperation, in Gaza, has been bombed and is completely destroyed,” her post explained. “Attacking civilian buildings is and remains totally unacceptable.”

She added that Brussels had summoned Tel Aviv’s ambassador.

President Joe Biden signed an executive order allowing Washington to blacklist Israeli settlers that attack Palestinians in the West Bank. Over the past four months, there has been widespread violence against Palestinians in the West Bank, killing nearly 100 children and driving thousands from their homes.

On Thursday, a senior White House official told reporters that Biden signed an executive order allowing sanctions on violent settlers because the attacks on Palestinians caused regional instability. The initial round of sanctions placed four Israelis on the blacklist.

Netanyahu denounced the executive order. “Israel acts against all lawbreakers everywhere, so there is no room for exceptional measures in this regard,” a statement issued by Netanyahu’s office said.

Palestinian authorities have demanded an international investigation after a mass grave was found in Gaza with the decomposing bodies of Palestinian detainees who were blindfolded and handcuffed.

At least 30 bodies were found in “black plastic bags” near the Hamad school in northern Gaza, with Palestinian officials accusing Israeli soldiers of killing the civilians “execution-style”.

The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs called for an international investigation on Wednesday into what it described as Israeli “massacres”, demanding that a team visit Gaza “to find out the truth and dimensions of the genocide to which our people are exposed”.

Witnesses told Al Jazeera that the deceased were blindfolded, tortured and killed before being placed in the bags.

“As we were cleaning, we came across a pile of rubble inside the schoolyard. We were shocked to find out that the dozens of dead bodies were buried under this pile,” one witness told  Al Jazeera.

Claire's Observations:  Sec Def Austin, a question, please: without definitive proof , why is the US government about to uncork militarily on Iran?!?  Because you, sir, are "getting your marching orders"  (no pun intended) from Tel Aviv?!?   Because this, sir, is the only logical conclusion to which I, and other reasonably sane people,  can come on this issue.

And while Israel loves to portray Iran as "an existential threat to its existence", sir, I would like to point out to you that it's "threat"  to Israel is economic... not existential.  Iran makes things, as does Israel, so Israel is hoping that a US-led war against it, will cause its manufacturing base to crumple into a sea of  molten glass. leaving Israel as "top dog" in the region, in terms of manufacturing, and oil development (which is why Palestinians are being driven from Gaza, because of the huge deposits of oil and natural gas being found close to its shores Israel wants to exploit.  Yes, sir; we know.)

But there are a couple of questions, Sec Def Austin, which desperately need to be asked, and answered out loud, which no one, in civilian government or our military establishment, seems to want to do.  What if Russia and China decide to enter the fray militarily on Iran's side?!?  Will conscription be immediately re-instituted in this country?!?  As you are keenly aware, we don't have the troop strength; the money; or the manufacturing; or the weaponry right now, to successfully fight both countries, at the same time.  So is the military's  "backup plan" a nuclear Armageddon" where few, if any, civilians are left alive on the planet??!?   In the 21st century, sir, please assure the American people, that you and your team, can actually do better than this!!

Amid expansion of the scope of tensions across West Asia, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian says war is not the solution to the region's crises.

The top diplomat made the remarks on Thursday, speaking on the phone with his Egyptian counterpart Sameh Shoukry.

"Iran is not after expansion of the war, since we do not consider warfare to be the solution to the region's growing crises," the former said.

Amir-Abdollahian rather considered the Israeli regime's ongoing genocidal war against the Gaza Strip as well as Tel Aviv's continued atrocities and occupation of regional territories to be the source of the crises that have afflicted the region.

Israel began its brutal war on Gaza on October 7, 2023 after the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas carried out Operation al-Aqsa Storm against the occupying entity in retaliation for its intensified atrocities against the Palestinian people.

For the first time since 2016, the United Kingdom will test-launch the Trident II D5 ballistic missile from its refitted HMS Vanguard nuclear sub, The Sun newspaper reported citing sources.

The unarmed missile will be fired from a location approximately 90 km away from the east coast of the United States. On January 30, HMS Vanguard was spotted in Port Canavarel in Florida. The US National Geospatial Intelligence Agency has warned shipping companies about a potential launch.

According to the report, the Trident II D5 test launch will be necessary for determining whether the submarine may re-enter service after its seven-year-long overhaul in Plymouth.

Apart from HMS Vanguard, the United Kingdom has three more Vanguard-class nuclear subs, built in 1990s: HMS Victorious, HMS Vigilant and HMS Vengeance. At present, only two of them are fit for service. By early 2030s, the United Kingdom will start replacing them with Dreadnought-class submarines.

The EU will annually approve budget payments to Ukraine as part of a support program worth 50 billion euros, Reuters clarifies. This condition was demanded by Hungary, which blocked the allocation of aid to Ukraine at the previous EU summit. Budapest called on the EU to spend these funds to help the people of Europe.

TASS has collected the main facts about what happened at the EU summit.

The United States should be prepared to simultaneously deter both Russia and China over the next decade, Administrator of the US National Nuclear Security Administration Jill Hruby told the 2024 Nuclear Deterrence Summit.

In her words, Russia has been demonstrating "destabilizing behavior," including by deploying its tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus, and allegedly was "vehemently rejecting arms control dialog with the United States."

"In addition, China continues to modernize and expand its nuclear arsenal at a rapid pace while introducing advanced technologies like hypersonics and new dual-use technology. As a result, both US Strategic Command and the bipartisan Strategic Posture Commission are clear - we must be ready to deter two near-peer nuclear powers within a decade," she said.

The mainstream U.S. media is almost totally ignoring incendiary statements by powerful Israeli officials who say openly they want to push Palestinians out of Gaza forever.

by James North, reposted from Mondoweiss

Stephanie Nolen, now at the New York Times, is a veteran and excellent overseas reporter. She’s spent many years working in South Asia, Latin America and Africa. Her book 28 Stories of AIDS in Africa is a superb look at how that pandemic devastated large swaths of the continent.

So when you see that the Times is running not one but two of her articles on “looming starvation in Gaza,” you have hopes that some important truths are about to be revealed.

But you would be largely disappointed. Nolen does explain that Palestinians in Gaza are going hungry, and one of her reports goes into painful detail about the actual physical impact of severe malnutrition: she notes, for instance, that “children often fail first.”

Hundreds of thousands of trucks and other vehicles are currently headed to the southern border in several convoys to protest the Biden administration’s immigration policies.

The Daily Signal reported that the first “Take Our Border Back” convoy “kicked off on Monday” with a group heading from Virginia Beach, VA, to the key border city of Eagle Pass, TX.

A second group began to head from Texas to the Arizona border town Yuma on Thursday, while a third will leave southern California for Yuma on Saturday.

“To the naysayers: We’re just ordinary citizens, farmers, ranchers, retired police officers,” emphasized Kim Yeater, a radio show host who is organizing the protest.

“Not crazy conspiracy theorists,” she added in a statement to The New York Post.

The scuffle in Kiev over replacing the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine General Valeri Zaluzny continues.

CNN reports that he will be fired within the next 48 hours.

Zelensky set to announce dismissal of Ukraine’s top commander within days as rift grows over war, source says - CNN, Jan 31, 2024

This will not go down well with the electorate and, moreover, with the soldiers of the Ukrainian forces:

A poll published by the Kyiv Institute of Sociology in December found 88% of Ukrainians supported the top general. Zelensky’s approval rating, though also high, was considerably lower at 62%.

Or, as the Washington Post provides:

It is far from clear that any new commander will be able to improve Ukraine’s difficult situation on the battlefield without significantly more forces and weapons — precisely what Zaluzhny has demanded of Zelensky, adding tension to what was already a fraying relationship.

Zaluzhny’s popularity — both within the military and among ordinary citizens — makes his removal a political gamble for Zelensky. It also poses strategic risks at a time when Russia has intensified its attacks and Western security assistance for Kyiv has slowed. The general has built strong rapport with his Western counterparts and has often been able to advocate directly for certain materiel and seek counsel on battlefield strategy.
