Several people were killed in indiscriminate Israeli attacks across Gaza on 1 August as the besieged strip marked the 300th day of Tel Aviv’s genocidal war.

Four people were killed and several others injured by Israeli shelling in the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza on Thursday, WAFA news agency reported. Eight were also killed in central Gaza’s Maghazi camp.

At least 15 more Palestinian detainees have been freed by Israeli occupation forces, recounting severe abuse and torture while in detention.

Looking weak and disheveled, they arrived at the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in central Gaza’s Deir al-Balah after being released at a military checkpoint east of the city on Thursday.

“They broke our hands and feet,” one of the detainees reportedly said.

U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres confirmed in a phone call to the Iranian Foreign Minister that Iran has the 'inherent right to self-defense' against violations of its national security and territorial integrity.

UPDATE 6:14 PM EDT --

Democracy Now: We speak with Palestinian human rights lawyer Noura Erakat about Benjamin Netanyahu's address to Congress, in which he defended Israel's brutal war on Gaza, lied repeatedly about the dire humanitarian conditions on the ground and refused to talk about how to reach a ceasefire to end the bloodshed. Although more than 100 Democrats skipped the speech, Erakat says the jubilant reaction from lawmakers in attendance showed U.S. leaders cheering "for what is essentially a war on children."
