A Pentagon Famous for “Losing” $Trillions Makes “Accounting Error” and Refuels Saudi Yemen-Bombing Jets for Free

The Pentagon's "accounting error” regarding the refueling of coalition jets in Yemen is just another swindle in a long line of accounting issues from the poshest military in the world

According to a recent report, the Pentagon failed to charge the Saudi Arabia-United Arab Emirates (UAE) coalition waging war in Yemen for the refueling of planes as well as for the fuel itself. As a result of the inadvertent “giveaway,” which the Pentagon has blamed on an accounting error, U.S. taxpayers are believed to have paid as much as tens of millions of dollars towards the coalition’s bombing campaign in Yemen, which has routinely targeted schools, hospitals, weddings, funerals and even a school bus.

The Pentagon’s failure to properly charge the Saudi-Emirati coalition was revealed in a Department of Defense (DoD) letter dated November 27>>>

The U.S. Is Paying More Than It Bargained for in the War on Yemen

The Pentagon says that “errors in accounting” mean Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates have not been properly charged for refueling.

President Donald Trump, who repeatedly complains that the United States is paying too much for the defense of its allies, has praised Saudi Arabia for ostensibly taking on Iran in the Yemen war. It turns out, however, that U.S. taxpayers have been footing the bill for a major part of the Saudi-led campaign, possibly to the tune of tens of millions of dollars.

France is the new tax hell in Europe and beyond

While the dust has not yet settled in the streets of Paris, after sweeping protests against fuel tax hikes, it just so happens that France has taken the crown from Denmark as the most taxed country in 2017, the OECD found.

Among the 34 developed members of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), Emmanuel Macron leads the nation with the highest tax-to-GDP ratio, the organization reported. France leads with 46.2 percent of GDP against the average of 34.2 percent of other members, thus dropping the long-standing leader in the rating, Denmark.

The Scandinavian country’s numbers, meanwhile, shrank to 46 percent, down by 0.2 since last year. Sweden, Italy, and Greece round out the top five, while Mexico is the last on the list at 16.2 percent.

What Ohio’s Tax Gimmick Really Means for the Blockchain Industry

By Max Gulker

Quickly browsing the headlines on November 26, you might be forgiven for having thought some much-needed good news for Bitcoin had hit the wire. “Ohio Becomes First US State to Allow Taxes to be Paid in Bitcoin” was the headline at CoinDesk, echoed in many other media outlets. Even a quick look shows, however, that this was merely a feel-good piece of legislation that bundled a user-friendly cryptocurrency exchange that companies could have easily accessed on their own with electronic tax filing.

But when is a gimmick more than just a gimmick? Behind the tax announcement and a few other seemingly cosmetic measures, Ohio might be communicating something of substance to the nascent blockchain industry...

How US Military Spending Keeps Rising Even As The Pentagon Flunks It's Audit

flashback;NOVEMBER 27, 2018:The Pentagon’s Massive Accounting Fraud Exposed

On November 15, Ernst & Young and other private firms that were hired to audit the Pentagon announced that they could not complete the job. Congress had ordered an independent audit of the Department of Defense, the government’s largest discretionary cost center—the Pentagon receives 54 cents out of every dollar in federal appropriations—after the Pentagon failed for decades to audit itself. The firms concluded, however, that the DoD’s financial records were riddled with so many bookkeeping deficiencies, irregularities, and errors that a reliable audit was simply impossible.

The Real Significance Of The French Tax Revolt

At some point, it is too much. Just as the citizens suffering under Soviet rule finally said no more, the people suffering under social-democratic rule might someday do the same. Observers have waited decades to see reforms that might forestall such a thing. Reforms haven’t happened. Now the people are in the streets, setting fires and protesting the police. -- And it’s not just France. It’s spreading to Belgium and the Netherlands – the building of a European Spring. -- What we see in Paris today might be the end of social democracy as we know it. What comes in its place is what the battle of ideas today is really about.

The Real Significance of the French Tax Revolt

By Peter C. Earle

The gilets jaunes (Yellow Jacket) anti-tax riots in France escalated over the past weekend, again citing the impact of higher taxes on fossil fuels – and high levels of taxation in general – on everyday life. French citizens, already subject to the highest taxes in the OECD, are being crushed by both new and systematically increasing taxes, and have taken to the streets by the hundreds of thousands in a “citizen’s revolution”. Recommendations to declare a state of emergency have for the time being been tabled.

With no sense of irony whatsoever, in a press conference on Saturday French President Emmanuel Macron stated: “I will never accept violence.”

Yet violence is the core component of his chosen vocation as a statesman...

Our deficits may finally be coming home to roost

There are no “free lunches” in fiscal policy. All government spending must be paid for by taxpayers, either today or in the future. The burden of deficit spending may show up as an inflation tax, if the Fed opts to monetize the debt. -- More likely, the burden will fall on future generations that inherit a smaller capital stock and are faced with paying higher tax rates.

Chicago’s New PlayStation Tax Shows How Greedy Politicians Can Be

By Brittany Hunter

“If it moves, tax it.” That’s government’s eternal motto, as Ronald Reagan quipped. To this, the city government of Chicago has added, “If it amuses, tax it.”

A few weeks ago, PlayStation 4 users in Chicago were shocked when they turned on their consoles and saw a message from Sony. The message informed users that as of November 14, 2018, they would be required to pay a 9 percent “amusement tax” for PlayStation subscriptions such as PlayStation Now, PlayStation Plus, PlayStation Music, and others...

Pro-Israel groups attack Rand Paul for blocking $38 billion to Israel

Free Beacon reports that "pro-Israel groups in America are mobilizing against Sen. Rand Paul (R., Ky.) for blocking the continuation of U.S. aid to Israel." Paul has placed a "block" on legislation to give Israel $38 billion over the next ten years - $23,000 per every Jewish Israeli family of four. This is the largest military aid package in U.S. history ... A block is a legislative procedure in which a senator calls on the floor leader not to move forward with a bill and indicates that the senator may filibuster against it. Jewish News Syndicate reported last week that the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) had sent an action alert to its members calling on them to pressure Paul to remove his block on the bill ... AIPAC has also been purchasing advertisements on Facebook attacking Paul "as the primary Senate force blocking the reauthorization of the U.S.-Israel security pact."

The Inversion Agenda

We are now living in the last stage of a plan to invert the individual and society from natural order. The plan will be deemed a success when most human beings on the planet live inverted to their biology and nature, and come to believe that an inverted reality has always been a normal state of affairs.

The elites are performing the inversion to weaken man to such an extent that their rule will never be threatened. In effect, they are creating a permanent slave class that will be as incapable of overthrowing their masters as a herd of cows is incapable of killing the farmer who owns them, even though those cows descended from powerful bulls that could only be handled with specialized training or weapons. There is no better way to weaken humans than to take away their natural strengths, pit them against each other through a multitude of invented identities, and convince them that strength can only come in hedonistic pleasure that focuses around food, entertainment, and sodomy.

Ohio to accept Bitcoin for tax payments… but DC always wants a cutBy Joe Jarvis - November 26, 2018

But the US government insisted that residents pay the tax not in whiskey, but in coin.

For big commercial distilleries, this wasn’t an issue. Since they sold their whiskey anyway, they had the coin to pay the tax.

But for random Pennsylvanians who brewed whiskey as a way to preserve their grain, this was horribly oppressive. Not only would the government take a portion of their livelihood, but they would force the people to somehow come up with money to pay the tax.

But whiskey was the money for these people. They never planned to sell it. And they couldn’t compete against the big distilleries, which because of scale, had cheaper per gallon costs.

So individuals had to sell some of their whiskey for a loss in order to come up with the coin to pay the tax.

If the government had accepted the actual whiskey as payment for the tax, the injustice wouldn’t have been so intense.

Federal Land Transfer: Privatization of America's Wealth

For one thing, it’s bright red color is no accident. Red is what psychologists call a “trigger” color. Red is equated with danger, risk and warnings.

All transactions to be conducted in the presence of a tax collector

In the terminal collapse of the Roman Empire, there was perhaps no greater burden to the average citizen than the extreme taxes they were forced to pay.

The tax ‘reforms’ of Emperor Diocletian in the 3rd century were so rigid and unwavering that many people were driven to starvation and bankruptcy. The state went so far as to chase around widows and children to collect taxes owed.

By the 4th century, the Roman economy and tax structure were so dismal that many farmers abandoned their lands in order to receive public entitlements.

Taibbi: Trump Is Just One Player in a Much, Much Larger Tax Story

“Tax bombshell,” blared Yahoo!

By my count, this was roughly the 4,790th “bombshell” of the Trump presidency, but one of the few to deserve the title. The Times story is an extraordinary piece of investigative reporting and a monument to the kind of work we all should be doing.

The parts I found most interesting were less about the rapaciousness of the Trump family per se than the myriad opportunities for gaming the system one presumes is available to everyone of this income level. The ordinary person cannot hire an outside appraiser to tell the IRS what it thinks he or she is worth, but the Trumps could systematically undervalue their properties for tax purposes (and then go back and overvalue them when it served their public relations needs).

Outside In: The Trump administration’s plan to remake the Middle East

The only promise that is new about the promised peace plan is the way it will be forced on the Palestinians: no one has promised that the plan itself will be new. With Saudi Arabia and Egypt—the outside—brought onside with the promise of continued military aid despite their crimes against humanity and violations of international law and the Palestinians weakened by being silenced, economically crushed and stripped of any friends to help them, the United States and Israel are now free to attempt to impose a peace plan on the Palestinians.

Why we joined the ‘surcharge’ lawsuit

Shakespeare said that a rose by any other name would smell as sweet — proof that he wasn’t a lawyer … or a politician. Either of them would tell you that a “surcharge” smells a lot better to voters than a “tax.”

And that’s one of the problems with the ballot measure to raise taxes for public education.

The actual wording of the proposal that goes before Hawaii voters Nov. 6 is, “Shall the legislature be authorized to establish, as provided by law, a surcharge on investment real property to be used to support public education?”

You’ll notice that not only does it not define the term “investment real property” or what precisely will be funded in public education, but it also doesn’t use the word “tax.”

That may seem like a little thing, but consider if the question was worded more accurately: “Shall the legislature be given a new constitutional power to raise taxes on real property for state use?”

The Day U.S. Military Supremacy Publicly Ended

Military Budgets

The U.S. Military budget for FY 2019 will be $716 Billion. Add $70 Billion for Homeland Security, $70 Billion for the nation’s 16 intelligence agencies, $186 Billion for veterans’ benefits, and the U.S. spends more than a trillion dollars a year on “defense.” Two trillion dollars covers yearly mandatory expenses for social security, Medicare, Medicaid, and interest on the federal debt, leaving less than one trillion out of the country’s $4 Trillion budget left for everything else.

Russia’s military budget is $61 B a year, less than 10 percent of the U.S. military budget and less than that of Saudi Arabia.

Given the above facts, Russia would appear to be no match against the U.S. militarily.

11 Facts About America’s Wildly Out Of Control Student Loan Debt Bubble

Higher education has become one of the biggest money-making scams in America. We tell all of our young people that if they want to have a bright future, they must go to college. This message is relentlessly pounded into their heads for their first 18 years, and so by the time high school graduation rolls around for many of them it would be unthinkable to do anything else. And instead of doing a cost/benefit analysis on various schools, we tell our young people to go to the best college that they can possibly get into and to not worry about what it will cost. We assure them that a great job will be there after they graduate and that great job will allow them to easily pay off any student loans that they have accumulated. Of course most college graduates don’t end up getting great jobs, but many of them do end up being financially crippled for decades by student loan debt.

State Lawmaker Proposes Taxing Bottled Water As Way To Increase Revenues

A Nevada lawmaker has asked for a bill to be drafted to require bottled water to be subjected to the state sales tax.

Assemblyman Tick Segerblom, D-Las Vegas, said bottled water is included under the sales tax exemption for food in Nevada even though it has no nutritional value.

Segerblom said taxing the beverage would bring in much needed revenue for the upcoming two-year budget. It is time for the Legislature to review all tax exemptions as a way to generate revenue for programs without raising taxes, he said.

Segerblom says he does not support taxing food.

“The purpose as I understand to exempt food is you don’t want to make it any more expensive than possible for people to survive, and obviously again, bottled water is not necessary to survive,” he said.

The only exception in Nevada now is prepared food intended for immediate consumption, which is subject to the sales tax.
